Thoughts on Current Race Relations

Reading the comments to an AP article on the Town Hall Website, about Al Sharpton's statement that he will "shut down the city" as a result of the decision to acquit the police officers in the shooting death of Sean Bell, was both revealing and unexpected.  The animosity in the comments for Rev. Sharpton was overwhelming.

Given the anger and disgust for the good Rev. Al Sharpton's declaration that he will "shut down the city," made a very bold statement as to the greater state of current race relations.  Ever since Barack Obama made his "eloquent" speech about race, following the questioning of his association with his racist pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, racial tensions appear to have escalated.  Sen. Obama campaigned as the "messiah" that would heal the divides in racial America.  It appears that all he has done is to inflame passions not seen since the sixties.

Way to go Barack, ya done good. You transcended something, something called normal race relations. Thanks to Obama, Sharpton and Wright, it'll be a "hot time in the ol' town tonight."
